Redwood Forest
One of the most unique settings in Victoria, this forest features Californian Redwood trees, some of which are 55m tall. Take your time walking among these gentle giants, also a great spot for photographers. During winter be prepared with boots and other wet weather gear so you can enjoy the serene and magical environs.

Healesville Sanctuary
One branch of Zoos Victoria, this well-known attraction is a must for those wanting to get up close and personal with some of Australian’s furry residents. Check out the map, to glimpse all of the animals on show. If you’ve never been before, the bird show ‘Spirits of the Sky’ is a must. Also, if you haven’t been able to spot a lyrebird in the wild (La La Falls is great option for that), there is a lyrebird enclosure where you can view this spectacular species. If you’re planning on visiting multiple times in a year, or visiting any of the other Zoos Victoria facilities, then it is worth buying the membership.

Little Peninsula and Big Peninsula Tunnels
This sweet and remote picnic spot is ideal for those seeking a quiet location. The tunnels were created during the goldfield days and nearby is the Goldfields Walking Trail.

TarraWarra Museum of Art
Out of shared love of visual art, museum founders Eva Besen and Marc Besen, have created a high-quality cultural attraction in the heart of the Yarra Valley. The architecture and grounds are themselves spectacular and the exhibits are sure to be of interest to art lovers and novices alike.

Upper Yarra Museum
The lone remaining railway station on the historic Lilydale to Warburton line (which is now a great bike/walking trail). Now a centre museum for local historic information and stories. Open Sundays 11am-4pm, this is a way to connect with the community of Yarra Junction. They also host events, so check out their Facebook page for more information.

Blue Lotus Water Gardens
Open from Boxing Day until April, this unique garden is a great spot for photos and connecting with nature. There is café on site, but visitors are welcome to bring a picnic or BBQ and use the shelters and pavilions. There is also a plant nursery, gift shop and garden shop for those might like to take home a souvenir for their garden. If you’re not convinced, jump online and check out the amazing photos.

Yarra Centre
Featuring a 25m pool, a leisure pool and toddler pool which are all indoors and heated. This is great option on days that with very high UV or even on cold rainy days. You can go for casual shooting practice on the basketball courts, or have use of the volleyball facilities for a small entry fee.

Yarra Valley Archery Park
Around the corner from Doon Reserve is this indoor archery park. A great option for rainy afternoons if the kids (or big kids) are sick of the caravan or tent. If you are super keen and plan to visit regularly, memberships are available. Open on Saturdays and Sundays, 12-5pm. They also take group bookings for scouts, guides, schools, etc.
